According to the lack of dementia awareness in the context of Thailand, dementia Journey aims to document and disseminate dementia knowledge and research to the public. The main objectives of dementia journey are to raise awareness and share ideas about the possibility of dementia through a design perspective to connect the meaning of life, which can be truthfully reflected, looked back on, and applied to our daily lives.
The starting point is my PhD project at the School of Architecture, The University of Sheffield, UK. During my previous journey, the concept of dementia reflects to my life experiences and my perception towards the world. The architectural course asks me a lot of questions about memory and architectural history. How can the design support their perception and memory to enable their capabilities in daily lives as much as possible. It is about the perception of different senses, needs and relationships of themselves and their surroundings. The thesis teaches me to be observers and sometimes be their students. This is because when we talk to him, it brings us empathy and eager to understand. It is like a mirror reflecting each other to encourage them to live in the society as long as possible.
Dementia Journey, as a mission, can be divided into three main categories which are research services that offer design consultation services about dementia care. The second part is media, which includes available services of free downloaded resources, guidelines, and other artworks. The third part is product development which use design research as the main design methodology to design and develop everyday products for people with dementia and other stakeholders.
